When we look at the Shia Kalimah, to your surprise, it is not like what you were taught nor is it what you would teach a new Muslim. Rather we find their Kalimah is not the Kalimah of the Believers.
The Kalimah of the Believers:
لا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ، مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللّٰهِ
La Ilaha Illallah
Muhammedur Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam)
“There is none worthy of worship besides Allah. Muhammed Sallallahu alaihi wa Sallam is the Prophet of Allah”
Their Kalimah:
لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللّٰهِ، عَلِيٌّ وَلِيُّ اللّٰهِ، وَصِيُّ رَسُولِ اللّٰهِ، وَخَلِيفَتُهُ بِلَا فَصْلٍ
Transliteration:
“La ilaha illallah, Muhammadur Rasoolullah, Aliyyun Waliullah, Wasi-u Rasoolillah, wa Khalifatuhu bila fasl.”
English Translation:
“There is no god but Allah, Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, Ali is the Wali (Guardian) of Allah, the successor of the Messenger of Allah, and his immediate caliph.”
