THE ILL LEADING THE SICK

Question:

A program taking place today at Nurul Islam, the Hub of the Masjid Preventers Club with the title “mental health community day” with special guests delivering a wide range of topics ranging from depression, suicide, dementia, stigma, addiction and so forth. Please warn the public lest a punishment knocks us over.

Answer:

Allah Ta’alaa says:

They have hearts they do not understand with, eyes they do not see with, and ears they do not hear with. They are like cattle. In fact, they are even more misguided! They are the entirely heedless. (Verse 179, Surah 7, Al-A’raaf)

The posters referred to were placed on Masjid walls. There are names of females on those posters squeesed in between a Moulana’s name who bartered his Islam for a cheap price. The Moulana’s name is used as a license to engage without a conscience as the Moulana engaged in other programs where interfaith prayers took place.

The so called Moulana was dead against pictures and videos previously. As Mufti Ebrahim Salejee Daamat Barakaatuh has explained, once you opened the door for one vice it lead to the next. The difference is, this is no ordinary person doing it, when an Aalim does it, he is giving a message to the world claiming that he has some proof to do his action. You made all excuses for women to come on Radio Islam. Now that you have allowed them, it went to the next. This is not a game, this is a serious matter. This is tampering with the Shari’ah of Allah Ta’alaa. How many mediums of trust to get the knowledge of Islam. To throw it away is exceptionally easy, Shaytaan did it and is now in the recruiting industry.

When we engage, they have absolutely no proof from the Qur’aan Majeed and Ahaadith Mubaarakah for what they do. They do not care about Islam, lets be honest, thus it is no use to engage with them. As Hakeemul Ummah Rahmatullahi Alaihi had explained, we need not to engage. We need to expel Shaytaaniyat as Allah Ta’alaa expelled Shaytaan. Islam is used to fit in their public relations domain.

However, the Ummah slowly is getting up from their slumber. The realisation that every person who has the title Moulana in front of his name, does not mean he is loyal to Allah Ta’alaa and His Rasool Sallallahu ‘Alaihi wa Sallam.

Lets name just a few issues wrong with this program:

  1. Is it a necessity for these women to speak at these programs? No, not even to leave their homes to attend this Haraam congregation. (Verse 32 & 33, Surah 33- Al-Ahzaab)
  2. Mental illness cannot be remedied by breaking the commands of Allah Ta’alaa, it will only bring you to a higher degree of a wide spread of sicknesses extending even to the Aakhirah, namely: blindness. “And whoever turns away from My message shall have a straitened life, and We shall raise him blind on the Day of Judgment” (Verse 124, Surah Tahaa)
  3. Enticing men to attend female programs. Allah Ta’alaa says “do not go close to zina” (Verse 32 – Surah Al-Israa)
  4. To justify their shift, they portray they are fulfilling the command of the Qur’aan Shareef by having a barrier between men and women. The Qur’aan Shareef is referring to the best of times and to the most chaste of women for very specific aspects and exclusive knowledge surrounding Wahi. Not those who willingly go out looking for attention, getting dolled and dressed up.
  5. To top it off the poster states, “variety of stalls for individual consultations by experienced professionals”. Focus on the word individual consultations.

Is the role model of Sayyidah Maryam Radhiyallahu Anha not sufficient to teach those who wish to uproot the beautiful teachings of the Qur’aan Shareef?

Allah Ta’alaa speaks glowingly of this honourable Queen amongst the other Queens of Jannah:

“And mention in the Book (the story of) Maryam, when she withdrew from her people to a place eastwards”
Verse 16, Surah Maryam
Sayyidah Maryam used a barrier to hide herself not to expose herself to the men:
“Then she used a barrier to hide herself from them…..”
Verse 17, Surah Maryam
The verses mentioning her purity continue but the question that we should ask ourselves is, are we doing actions to instill more fear or are we doing acts that is pushing us further away from Allah Ta’alaa.
That is why this chaste and pure Queen of Jannah sought protection when her siren of Taqwa made her feel agitated at the fact that a man be standing in front of her. Sayyidah Maryam As-Siddeeqah Radhiyallahu ‘Anha did not know that it was Angel Jibraeel Alaihis Salaam. Just imagine, her Taqwa was such with an Angel who are free from desires and disobeying Allah Ta’alaa but not just an Angel, the highest from the calibre of Angels. Today, we say he is a scholar thus it becomes fine to interact carte blanche. This is not the teachings of the Qur’aan Shareef. This is adulterating the meaning and teachings of the Qur’aan Majeed in practice.
“She (Maryam As-Siddeeqah Radhiyallaha ‘Anha) said, “I seek refuge with Ar-Rahmaan against you if you are Allah-fearing.”
Verse 18, Surah Maryam
Speaking of Shaytaan, it is an old plot of his to meddle in to the medical field to deceive man. He promised Sayyiduna Aadam Alaihis Salaam an everlasting life. Today the Shayateen of the world acting as agents are also adopting the same ploy albeit under different names. He is your enemy beware of him and his agents!
Solution for mental problems:
1. Take the name of Allah Ta’alaa in seclusion. Say Allah Ta’alaa for a few minutes daily. Increase slowly. As-Salaam the Creator of peace gives you the remedy in His wonderful Kalaam (See Verse 28 of Surah 13:Ar-Ra’ad)
2. Recite Durood (Saying Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) in abundance. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam told Sayyiduna Ubayy b. Ka’ab Radhiyallahu ‘Anhu, “all your worries will be removed and all your sins will be forgiven” (Tirmidhi)
3.  Constantly renew your Imaan and engage in good deeds, Allah Ta’alaa will definitely give you a good life (Verse 97, Surah An-Nahl)
4. Stay away from Haraam. If you do not depression will surround you. (Verse 124, Surah Tahaa).  Give up the life of interest and bonds. If the rights were snatched, make an active effort to return those rights whether in the form of items or kinds words to remedy ill feelings.
5. Make sure an active effort is in place in completing all your Faraaidh, Sunnah and Nawaafil. Working towards securing it, knowing once you slip with Nawaafil, you will soon slip with Sunnah and similarly Faraaidh. Keep on moving in this direction and you will become the beloved of Allah Ta’alaa. (Verse 31, Surah Aal-e-Imraan, Chapter 3)
6. Make sincere Tawbah and Istighfaar in abundance. For this, one has to have good thoughts of Allah Ta’aala. Read the Qur’aan Shareef and you will be nourishing your soul.
7. Look at those below you in worldly matters. Look at those above you in Deeny matters.
8. Hold on to the righteous even if they are rare.
9. Express gratitude for all the bounties Allah Ta’ala has blessed you with, especially Imaan.
10. Give out Sadaaqah even if it be half a date
In shaa Allah we make dua that depression, anxiety and all difficulties are removed from the Ummah. May Allah Ta’ala forgive us and pass away with Imaan. Aameen.
